Dr. Gail Rose
The term medical acupuncture is used to denote the practice of acupuncture performed by a licensed physician, in this case a licensed chiropractic physician that has received additional training in acupuncture. Medical acupuncture indicates that a Western-style rather than Traditional Chinese-style approach is used in evaluating and treating the patient.
Dr. Rose's practice of acupuncture is primarily for the treatment of PAIN resulting from various musculo-skeletal problems such as injuries, arthritis and degenerative conditions. Most types of pain respond to acupuncture. Research shows acupuncture as being effective in treating a wide range of musculo-skeletal conditions. It promotes a natural pain-killing response in the body and is able to release tightness and promote healing by bringing blood and energy into the affected area.
Acupuncture for the treatment of muscular pain has been used for 30 years in the Western Medical setting. In skilled hands it is safe, effective and frequently gives long lasting relief of pain. Acupuncture causes and immediate relaxation of the muscles being treated.
Dr. Rose also uses trigger point therapy, acupuncture’s much younger cousin. A trigger point is a tender area in a tight band of muscle or tendon that has been strained or injured. The key point is that trigger points can be just as effective as acupuncture points in relieving pain.
